4 Stars Good audio, clumsy case
Good sound and noise cancellation and LOVE that the case also tops off the charge in the earpiece when it’s in the case. However, the case is too big for a pocket (unless mega baggy) and it would be great if there was something that would allow me to securely clip it to something like a belt or a bag strap or ????

5 Stars I think I’ve finally found a replacement for the Plantronics 510!
For as long as I’ve owned bluetooth enabled phones, I’ve owned and loved the Plantronics 510. I’ve tried a TON of different headsets, and all have paled in comparison to the 510. When I saw the 925 on sale (I’m talking 1/2 price here), I couldn’t pass it up.

PROS:

First off – it’s very high quality. Well built, no loose parts, no falling off earpieces. It has a CASE, and this case CHARGES the earpiece when not in use! The case holds one entire charge for the earpiece, so when you’re in the car and your headset dies (happens to me ALL the time), you can charge it up and use it in no time!

The sound quality is superb. I thought I’d never find anything as good as the 510, but this headset BEATS it! I literally did a side by side test with both of them. The other person thought that the 925 sounded MUCH clearer and more defined than the 510. Also, the wind is not nearly a factor as it is with the 510. You actually have a few weak gusts of wind while using it and still be able to be heard.

It has GREAT battery life – this can be in standby mode for several days without needing a charge. I can talk and talk and talk and feel like I hardly ever need to charge it.

Lastly – it’s LIGHT. MUCH lighter than the 510 – so light, in fact, that sometimes I forget that it’s in my ear!

CONS:

OK, so there are many pros with this earpiece. There are also a couple of cons. First – it’s really, really difficult to fit the earpiece into the charger case. You have to adjust it so that it’s perfect before trying to push it in. I fear that over time, the charger contact on the earpiece may wear out.

Second – the earpiece insert gels don’t really work all that great. Even though they include 3 different sizes, I couldn’t find any that fit my ear perfectly. Therefore, the earpiece doesn’t sit perfectly in my ear and forces me to turn up the volume (on my phone and earpiece) to the MAX. Still, sometimes, I have a hard time hearing the other person because it doesn’t sit as close in my ear canal as others (the 510).

Another con – comfort. It’s comfortable, but not as comfortable as the 510. After about an hour, my ear starts to hurt from the insert. No matter which size insert I pick, I have the same problem.

The last con – price. It’s come down in price (at the time of this review, it’s 72 dollars), but it’s still too expensive. For that price you could buy two 510s and still have money to spare.

That’s about all the cons I can possibly think of.

I’m a huge techie guy and love to try out all new technology. I’ve been fiercely dedicated to the Plantronics 510 over the years because I have yet to find anything that was better. In my opinion, the Plantronics 925 is better in almost every way than the 510.

5 Stars Excellent for the average user
Pros) Great fit – holds firmly in my ear without the need for an earhook. The cleverly designed gel earbud is quite comfortable. Battery life – I have using this bt for nearly a month and have only needed to recharge the actual headset once, and that was using the battery case. In other words, I have not needed to plug in the device for the entire month, which is great since I keep it in my car. Sound quality – speaker quality is good. When driving, the other side thinks I’m on a landline.

Cons) Max volume – could be higher. Hasn’t been an issue for me, but in an extremely noisy environment it could be an issue for some. Noise canceling – even with the stereo turned down in my car, people report being able to hear it.

Conclusion) Great bluetooth headset for regular use. Good build quality, excellent features, and you can’t beat the charging case. However, this is not an extreme noise-canceling unit like the Jawbone or Q7, so if you plan on using this while operating a jackhammer, you may want to consider something more “extreme.”

5 Stars Love the 925 Bluetooth
This bluetooth is very reliable and has great sound. I have only had one issue when it lost connection, but was able to sync up in no time. The quality of the plantronic 925 is very high and the comfort is good. I had to break in the larger ear piece because the medium kept falling out of my ear. If you want a good bluetooth for your iphone or any other phone this is the one.

3 Stars Less than expected
I had reason to purchase a new head set for my mobile phone and I liked the look of the new Discovery 925 Earpiece.

I was less than impressed!

The “ear buds” were uncomfortable and felt un-stable in my ear. I tried all three sizes and it appeared to be the “loop” design that wasn’t working. It was hard to align the mic with my mouth and it fell out often.

The “recharge” box is too big and bulky to keep in my pocket and I don’t like to “store the earpiece in my ear”. I want to keep it in my pocket and it seems vulnerable to pens and pencils in my shirt pocket. A coat pocket might work, but I seldom wear a jacket or coat.

The action of the button was clumsy! I can’t think of a better word. I felt like I had to push the earpiece into my ear to make a “switch” from off to on. Press too long or too hard and it skips through different stages of action. I missed several calls because I went from “hello” to “goodbye” quickly because of the action of the button.

All in all I was disappointed when my dog chewed up the Discovery 925, but it gave me a great excuse to re-order a Voyager 655 (which my dog had chewed up about 6 weeks earlier).

Good luck with your experience with your earpiece (and your dog).

4 Stars Great Bluetooth…so far
I just purchased this headset and so far I think this was a good choice. It’s light and stylish, especially with the Gold color – more feminine than black and silver (like most Bluetooth earpieces). Also, with the “V” shape, it’s not that noticeable – pretty discrete. I love the charging/storage case that comes with this headset. It offers a great way to carry my headset in my purse and a real convenient way to charge the headset during the day. The headset comes with a USB charger and an AC charger (which you plug into the case or directly into the headset).

So far in testing it, the sound is very clear on both sides (for me and for the caller on the other end). I had the Plantronics 665 and people often told me that I sounded staticky. I don’t get that from this earpiece.

The only thing that I have to get used to is the silicone (or rubber) earpiece. The headset comes with three (large, medium and small). The large and medium earpieces look a little different than the small – it has an extra little nub that kind of helps the headset stay put in your ear. The small earpiece doesn’t have this nub. I called Plantronics to actually see if they had earpieces similar to the ones used for the 665, and that’s how I found out about the extra little nub. I’ve been using the medium earpiece and so far haven’t had a problem with it.

Since I just got this, I’ll have to use it more to really see if this fits my needs. But so far, I’m glad I purchased this.

5 Stars I love it
I love it…. the fit is perfect, I sometimes forget it is on, the sound is incredible, I can hear really well, and the callers can hear me just as well , I am soft spoken so that is a plus for me. The only thing I do not like os that the chargeing case does not have a clip to keep it on my hip, but I other than that it is a great bluetooth

4 Stars Very Comfortable
This is the most comfortable and easy to insert bluetooth earpiece I’ve used. I had a Jawbone (the 1st version) before and really liked the sound quality but it was frustrating to put on especially with sunglasses. This one is a delight! I do not like wearing my bluetooth around so it is nice to be able to quickly and easily put it on and take it off. I also love that it has a case so I can toss it in my purse.

Things I like:

The case

The fact that the case can charge it

Lightweight

Comfortable

Can be used in either ear

Decent length of charge

Dislike:

Only 3 volume settings

Not great at blocking outside noise but I haven’t had many complaints.

Bigger than expected

5 Stars Lovely wireless headset – and a charging case!!
This is a pretty thing. I thought it would fall out of my ear, but it’s great. I love not having a hook under the bow of my glasses. I like that the microphone is solid. I had a motorola bluetooth, and the layered microphone kept getting broken – I think from the frequent opening & closing. The sound on the Plantronics is terrific. The very clever charging case is so wonderful!! I’ve needed a safe place to put the earphone – I refuse to wear it constantly. I can throw this in my purse, and it extends the charge. Terrific. My friends are jealous.

2 Stars I loved it for awhile…
I loved it for the first year, easy to use, very stylish…used it about 15 times and then wouldn’t charge anymore…now disappointed.

1 Star Have stopped using it
The sound is horrible in the car. My fiancee said that it sounded like there were bubbling noises when I was talking to her via the headset. So I called my home and left a message on my answering machine. Horrible! I could hardly hear myself over what sounded like bubbles in a fish tank. Garbage. Your mileage may vary, but I would highly recommend you consider a different headset.

4 Stars BEST BLUETOOTH HEADSET I’VE HAD, BUT NOT PERFECT
THE PLANTRONICS DISCOVERY 655 BLUETOOTH HEADSET THAT I RECENTLY BOUGHT IS BY FAR THE BEST OF THE EIGHT BLUETOOTH HEADSETS THAT I HAVE OWNED, WHICH INCLUDED THREE OTHER PLANTRONICS MODELS – THE EXPLORER 220, THE VOYAGER 520, AND THE DISCOVERY 650E. IT IS WELL WORTH THE DISCOUNTED PRICE OR EVEN SUBSTANTIALLY MORE. UNLIKE MOST OF THE HEADSETS THAT I’VE HAD, IT IS QUITE LOUD AT FULL VOLUME – I HAD TO STRAIN TO HEAR WITH MOST OF THE OTHERS. THE NOISE CANCELLATION WORKS VERY WELL, BUT DOES NOT PERFORM MIRACLES. I USUALLY USE THE OPTIONAL EAR CLIP BECAUSE I RIDE A BICYCLE FREQUENTLY, AND THIS DEVICE IS SO LIGHT THAT I MIGHT NOT NOTICE IF IT FELL FROM MY EAR. MY ONLY REAL COMPLAINT IS THAT IT CAN BE A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE TO WEAR THIS HEADSET AFTER A WHILE, SINCE NONE OF THE THREE PROVIDED EAR GELS IS QUITE RIGHT FOR ME.

1 Star Only good for a few people
I bought this headset based on positive reviews posted here. For me, it is one of the worst headsets I have ever owned. It comes with three ear tips, none of which fit my ears well at all. Because leaving it in my ear was chancy at best, I used the provided over-ear clip. It’s a total disaster. The clip mounts over the post used to hold the ear tip. Any pressure applied to the headset, such as removing it from an ear, often results in the clip forcing the ear tip free. It is no fun trying to retrieve the components in an automobile or anywhere else.

Avoid this badly engineered product.

4 Stars great item
this is the best blue tooth ear piece I have had yet. Comfortable to wear for extended periods, easy to use. Voice capabilties work great.

3 Stars OK for a while, but then
I bought one of this style about 18 months ago, so I have a bit longer experience than most of these reviews.

Sound: OK. Not more than that. Microphone could be better.

Fit: starts of OK. But as time goes by the two attachment pieces loosen up. These being the ear adapter (three different sizes provided) and the stability hook. The problem is this: the hook press fits over the socket for the ear adapter. The latter bayonet fits in to the socket with a 45 degree twist to either side, as feels best. BUT the plastic slowly wears away, the wire hook gets completely floppy, and the bayonet fit gets loose, with the result tat gravity is constantly pulling the headset itself down to where the bayonet finds its exit and the set falls off your ear. So far, I’ve been lucky with the set, but have lost the hook. These are available from the Plantronics web site at around $5 a pop.

Charging: uses a very special charger system with power source adapters. A USB charger adapter is included, BUT you have to remember to keep it with you. I now require any headset I buy in the future to have a built-in USB Mini-B socket for charging off any USB socket, no extra hardware required apart from the cable.

SO I am going to consider the $100 I paid in 2007 amortized and get something different.
