User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Ok phone to tide me over
Short: This phone works fine as a basic phone, if that is all you are looking for.

Long: My old phone’s LCD croaked on me, and I wanted to wait a bit before buying an HTC Dream, so I went with this cheap phone. Complaints: Menu/key response is sometimes slow. No way to get data to phone via USB cable, at least if you live in the US.

It seems like a USB cable exists (in Europe, Asia and Australia) but it costs about as much as the phone itself does after exchange rates. If you go to [...], they talk about cable CA-126, which works with the 1680. It has a regular usb connector on one end, and a Nokia microusb & 2.5mm charger plug on the other. The US Nokia manual says the Microusb port is for “authorized personal only”, which to my mind says that the carriers in the US wanted to force people into getting things onto the phone via some $$$-chargeable method.

In any event, I’ll be getting a new phone in a few months so I’ll live with this phone for now. But the limitations it has makes it so that it is only suitable for those who are not looking for anything other than making/receiving phone calls (like my parents).

4 Stars Good basic phone for the money
I needed a replacement phone, and did not want to sign up for a new contract, so I bought a Nokia 1680c at the full retail price. This phone is a good value. It rings loud & clear, and the speakerphone is easy to hear. People I’m calling say my voice is clear, though they can tell I’m on a cell phone. It has a lot of neat software features; for example, you can configure a shortcut action for the left and right softkeys, as well the Up-Down-Left-Right buttons. There is no dedicated rocker switch on the side for volume up & down; during a call, the volume is adjusted by the Left and Right buttons. The phone is constructed well, but feels too light. Battery life is very good. The screen is bright and clear. Navigating menus can be a little sluggish. The keypad is stiff, making text messaging a chore. No Bluetooth connectivity, so forget about using one of those fancy headsets. The box does include a wired earbud/microphone with integrated call answer/end button. Something that annoyed me was how it saved numbers to the address book from an incoming call; the Nokia software puts a “+” symbol in front of incoming call numbers. That gets saved to the address book — for example “+15551212121″ — a minor thing, and something probably more useful for European phone numbers, for example. Overall, I like this phone, and will probably keep it until I someday feel the need to get a smartphone-type slab of electronics.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Full of bugs
This phone has great features. The camera is great and so is the music player. When this phone works, it’s a really good phone. The problem is that this phone’s software is full of bugs. I’ve owned it for 6 months and have had to exchange it 3 times. It crashes fairly frequently, and occasional those crashes will be fatal, requiring an exchange of the entire phone. It frequently crashed while music was playing, and occasionally a multimedia text message would crash it. As much as I love the features of this phone, it is not worth the headache of the buggy software. Don’t buy it.

5 Stars Another great phone from world’s largest mobile manufacturer
This phone has been very practical in use. Most of the key features that the phone has are very good and some of them are excellent in my opinion.

I’d like to start with DESIGN and it absolutely grabbed my attention when I bought it. Modern, urban and handy; the minute you put it in your hand you will like it, if not love it.

TEXTING is very easy and convenient.

SCREAN is good enough, unless you are using it for games – you may find it a little too small. Other than that it is great not too big and not too small. COLORS are great too!

SIZE. These days for some reason cell phone technology have a tendency to make mobile devices bigger and I am not a big fun of that. For example: I phone – it is big enough to kill bugs and flights that are bothering you in the summer time, which I have to say adds a new feature, but I do like when my phone can easily fit in my pocket. This is another reason why I find Nokia 5610 Xpress Music to be great!

MUSIC PLAYER. Nokia 5610 Xpress Music technically replaced my ipod I mean it! With a 2GB memory card I have like 500 tracks and the sound quality is truly amazing considering that this is the cell phone.

CALL. I used to have Nokia 6610 phone back in a day, when phones with colorful display were just getting popular and I did have a complain about the call quality. The sound was not clear and I had a real trouble with it in any loud places. Nokia 5610 Xpress Music is different and different in a good way. The sound is clear.

BATTERRY is decent, but not the best. Mine is good for 4 days on single charge (I do talk often and text a lot). But if I really use it a lot it keeps up for only 3 days.

If you want a multitasking phone that easy fits in you pockets with a great design Nokia 5610 Xpress Music is the way to go!

5 Stars Love It!
I love this phone. It looks cool, I have 400 songs with me at all times, and it’s easy to use! I text all the time and the buttons are easy to hit the ones you want. The speakers are amazing! I was so suprised by how loud they were. I can play music out loud to other people or in my car if I forget my transmitter. The sound quality is as good as an ipod (if the music file is legitimate.)The only issue I have is the battery life. It usually lasts for five days with rgular/normal use. It runs out a lot faster when I listen to music a lot, but I just have to remember to charge it up at night which is no big deal. Also, i get internet on mine, and i have had it freeze a few times (that might just be the sites problem, not the phone.) I spent a hundred dollars on mine, but i don’t mind since i needed a new phone, but maybe try to wait to see if the price goes down. I am very happy with it however. Just make sure you buy a case to protect the screen and body. Oh, and the display is beautiful, downloaded videos are okay (again it may not even be the phone with the issue). the screen is kinda small for videos, so movies ect. probably won’t be so good, but music videos look great. I highly recomend it if you are looking for an everyday phone for calling, texting, music! It practically replaces an ipod, since i bring my phone evrywhere and not my ipod. I just put my favorite songs on it since I can only fit about 500-600:)I heard you can buy a bigger micro sd and fit around 1000-1500 depending on the size! thats the size of an ipod nano! one more thing! :) try to get a thin case, otherwise the phone is looks too bulky (even though its not!) and it doesn’t fit in your jean pockets so well!

2 Stars First time disappointed by Nokia
I’ve had 2 nokia phones before and loved both. So, I had rather high expectations for this one but was disappointed. Like other reviewers said, phone tends to freeze any time you look at it wrong way. Given it comes back to live in just abut 10 sec, it is still very annoying. If you aren’t going to use music player a lot it won’t freeze as much but then why bother getting a “music phone”? Reception is weak and I had no bars at my work when my old nokia had 2 bars and coworker’s Samsung had service too (same provider). So the phone is going back and Amazon promised to pay for return shipping. 5 stars for Amazon and I will buy another phone from them; sadly only 2 stars for Nokia 5610.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Poor Battery Life
I needed to get a new cell phone to fit my basic needs, so I selected the Nokia 3555. Unfortunately, it does not function well for its intended purpose of making phone calls as the battery life is poor. I have to recharge it about every 3 days or so without much use and seriously doubt it lasts anywhere close to the advertised standby time of 11 days. I have not had any other problems with it, but have not had a chance to test the music features yet. I am rather concerned about how long the battery would last if I did use any other features such as bluetooth, music, etc… My last 2 Nokia phones have given problems with the battery, although my Nokia 3650 before those performed excellently. Perhaps it’s time for me to try another cell phone manufacturer.

4 Stars I like it, I think I’ll keep it…
I’m not what you would call tech savvy but I like this phone. This is my second Nokia and is a far cry from the first generation phone I owned before. What drew me was it’s sleek look and feel. The specs were not that important… I had taken a trip to T-Mobile and spied it there first… and then bought it here. Other reviews about it’s excellent sound clarity (esp. ringtones) and somewhat limited battery life are right on. So that’s a positive and negative… haven’t done much with the camera but the resolution (pixels) seems to be just OK…. likewise games or any of that other stuff…this is a great phone for someone who likes an element of style but is not that sophisticated.

1 Star I liked my old Nokia.. but this one is a PITA
I have had this phone for 6 months now. Cosmetically, it has weathered my light daily use fairly well. However, it has always been schizophrenic at best. It likes to randomly shut off, make loud buzzing noises and constantly needs to be charged (not a battery issue – I tried a new one). The camera is much worse than my older phone (but it’s not a feature I really need). I am seriously considering buying a new phone already, and I hate spending money when I have a product that *should* work. Perhaps it’s time to try a new brand.

2 Stars Adequate but… unacceptably poor power life
I’ve had this phone for 9 months of moderate to heavy usage. I started having overheating problems about 3 months ago. The phone casing would get very hot where the battery was and then the charge would drop off precipitously. This happened whether using the handset or the bluetooth and whether it was in my pocket or on my desk. I replaced the battery with a Nokia OEM battery, thinking that was the problem. It didn’t help. The phone still overheats for many calls (not all) and the battery charge drops off immediately thereafter. I would not buy this phone again and intend to trade it in as soon as I can.

In fairness, however, my husband has the same phone, the same age, but his is not exhibiting this behaviour. However, he uses his phone once or twice a week for 5 minutes at the most; I use mine every day for 30-45 minutes.

For the rest of it, the phone is functional and easy to use. The micro-SD card slot was a real plus. The games are stupid and of course it’s almost impossible to download compatible games although it’s Java-based. It is, however, easy to make custom ringtones and Nokia supplies a free application to facilitate this.

I will note that it disconnects the Bluetooth at random for no apparent reason (and has done this with 3 different Bluetooth headsets and 2 brands – Motorola and Plantronics). It also randomly turns on some kind of high frequency/speaker “option” that makes the Bluetooth unusable until you turn it off, unpair, and re-pair it.

Overall I should give this a higher rating but it’s not that reliable a phone for moderate-to-heavy usage, so if you use your phone a lot, look around and read the reviews before you settle on this one.

5 Stars good basic 3G phone with good reception
go this phone today as my 6263 has 3G reception problem (unable to connect even with 2 bars)

this one is pretty basic on spec, however, it works alot better as modem, the voice clarity is fantastic, very good 2G and 3G reception

this phone uses new microUSB connection, however, you can use bluetooth instead of that for sync and file transfer

the audio player is OK, can use microSD-HC without problem, but the memory card is not hot-swappable (it’s under battery)

now T-Mobile starts to roll out 3G service, this phone is pretty ideal for modem usage

pro:

excellent 2G and 3G reception

good voice clarity

good battery time

con:

basic spec (but this is the best basic 3G phone)

memory card is not hot-swappable

if you want to get a basic 3G phone for modem use, this one is your choice
