3 Stars You get what you pay for (too cliche?)
I got this for my wife so she’d have something to use in her car to make driving while talking a little easier. After trying it for a couple of days we returned it because we were unhappy with the sound quality on the OTHER end.

THE GOOD:

1. It’s very small and light, and very comfortable. It fit both of us very nicely, and we both have freakishly small ears.

2. Pairing with the phone (iPhone) was easy, but I’m beginning to think that pairing is very seldom an issue with bluetooth headsets.

3. The sound quality (speaker on the headset) was good.

THE BAD:

1. The only really bad thing, and ultimately the reason we returned it, is that the person on the other end had difficulty understanding what you were saying. My wife (the one using the Samsung WEP 301) always sounded very distant, tinny, and staticy. I thought it may be because I was listening to her on my bluetooth device (plantronics discovery 925), but other people had the same complaint. I frequently was having to ask her to repeat herself. WE got tired of this, so we returned it and bought a Jabra 4010.

As far as comparison to a similarly priced headset, the Jabra 4010 is much better, in my opinion. While it doesn’t fit as deeply in the ear as the Samsung, the sound quality on both ends is great. When my wife is using it, I can’t tell a difference between her using the headset and her using the phone.

If you had to choose between the two devices, I’d go with the Jabra 4010 easily…even if it is more expensive (which we paid the same price for both of them).

5 Stars I am pleased with this Bluetooth headset
It is very easy to set up with your phone and comfortable on the ear. The silicone ear buds and Samsung OEM Clear Replacement Ear Hook for Samsung WEP301 Bluetooth Headset can all be purchased here in Amazon for a good deal if you do a bit of shopping around. I have seen that some complain that the ear hook breaks easily or quickly, I have found that if you use it kindly and carefully, it can and will last a good while as it has for my husband and myself. (We both have the same kind of headset. Sound is good and well worth the money spent!

4 Stars Great headset, great price
Great sound, the best price you can find on a blutooth headset. 4 stars because unless it fits nicely into your ear , the plastic piece that goes around your ear does not keep the headset on well. I love the sound quality and the price, but its a little annoying sometimes to push it back into your ear. Comes with cute stickers to customize the look (leapord print, solid black, etc) and also with different size silicon pieces to fit over teh ear “plug”. When I lost my last one, I came back to Amazon and re-purchased the same one. Its cheap enough to do that.

1 Star With an Achilles heal
The performance of the electronics was very good. The design and fragility of the loop holding it to your ear is abysmal. After talking with Samsung support, I learned they were aware of it and had redesigned (new material) the clip but would NOT stand by it. A penny piece of plastic (which should have been MUCH more robust or made of a near indestructible wire) rendered the product useless. THEN they had the audacity to want $3 to replace the broken piece… For that they not only lost any sale of an earpeice but also of a nice monitor I had my eye on or any other product they make.

4 Stars It’s a nice bluetooth
It’s a nice bluetooth. It’s light and good for the price. The only thing is the piece that hold the bluetooth to your ear should be stronger because mine broke already. I still recommended.

5 Stars Samsung WEP410 Bluetooth earpiece
Very good device, Easy to use and set up, fit is comfortable, sound quality is very good, and stand by /talk time are great, I have had a few other bluetooth ear pieces that fit better but sound was poor, longer stand by and talk time, but I figuerd if I was on the phone that long I need to re think my life, when I first purchsed it because of it’s size I thought I would loose it, year and a half later my dog chewed it, Great device for the money.

5 Stars Samsung WEP410 Headset
I bought this headset for my wife for Christmas 2008 and it has worked great. I did some research and this one had good marks. She likes the small size and the clarity of the sound. It seems to hold a charge pretty well. The charger case is a handy way to keep the unit from getting damaged. I like the fact she can drive with both hands on the steering wheel while talking on the phone. It paired right up to the phone. I would highly recommend this headset.

3 Stars Too bad; wont stay put
I wanted to love this thing, based on all the glowing reviews, but I’m like a small number on here and other review sites (I read many many reviews before ordering) that cannot keep this thing in my ear for more than 5 to 10 minutes with any of the earpieces. It sounds good on both ends, but I honestly can’t comment on anything other than that because of the above problem.

My adult son has had one and really loved it with no problems. If I can find a way to keep it in place, I may love it. Otherwise, oh well. At least it didn’t cost a $100.

1 Star Entirely Inadequate
This is a particularly disappointing headset. It’s small and light, but that is all it has to recommend it. Turning the power on or off using the “mutlifunction” button is inconsistent, frequently requiring 2-3 attempts to get it to register. The Bluetooth connection is very weak; if the phone is to my right in the car, putting the earpiece in my left ear results in an intermittent signal. The volume, for both listening and speaking, is far too low, so in a car, I have to strain to hear what my correspondent is saying while shouting my own words so that I can be understood over the road noise.

In short, it performs none of the functions one would like in a headset adequately, and is a near-complete failure of a product.

5 Stars Samsung engineers savvy way beyond the competition
The Samsung WEP410 performs so much better than any other bluetooth unit I have used, it makes one wonder why other makers are still trying — I’ve owned many models from Motorola, Bluespoon, Plantronics, Jawbone, and many other makers.

Samsung has done it with the WEP410. Period.

Specifically: any bluetooth needs to do three things *well*:

1) CONNECTION & CONTROLS: The WEP410 connects readily and the simple controls are intuitive. Volume control buttons are easy to use even during a phone call without taking the unit out of your ear or dislodging it. The multiple-use main button is well placed so activation keeps the Samsung in place, unlike some other makers.

2) COMFORT: well….here the Samsung WEP410 reigns supreme!! I often forget I’m wearing the Samsung. At the end of the day, I am surprised I’ve worn it all day. Compared to the worst (Plantronics) units I have had the Samsung has aced this critical performance criteria. One Motorola unit I had just hangs over the ear with a hook. This design makes the unit flop around with the slightest head movement. Plantronics has tried to redesign their units to fit into the ear like Samsung, but Plantronics units are painful after 40 minutes and they haven’t figured out how the pliable soft formed rubber tips of the Samsung are far superior. Samsung=no pain, long time comfort.

3) SOUND VOLUME & QUALITY. The Samsung WEP410 is the loudest and clearest of the bunch by not just a little, but a wide margin. People I call often think I am calling from a land line. My WEP410 links with my Blackberry 8330 and that is part of the good voice quality of course (I had a new touch screen Blackberry Storm for a week, a great design, terrible sound quality – I returned it). The frequency range determines the characteristic sound we recognize as a friend’s voice. Some brands clip off the high frequency thus making both the caller and callee sound as if they were speaking from the bottom of the ocean with a mouth full of prunes! Not the WEP410: it’s clarity and frequency range make people instantly recognizable.

The Samsung WEP410 is soooo good, I just bought a second unit. I never want to be without one.

The BAD news: I have heard that Samsung may be moving on to ‘newer’ models. If so, they would forfeit the WEP410 only for dumb market reasoning. They’d best keep it in production and promote it. Compared to what I paid for my first one a few years ago at $89, Samsung has paid off their engineering costs and now you can find it (Amazon) for as little as $29 (!!). IMO 9 out of 10 people who would try it will be a convert and never go back even to the touted Jawbone.

It boggles the mind that anyone, even the brilliant Samsung engineers, could improve significantly on WEP410.

Samsung Phones Recalled, May Fail to Call 911 in Emergencies
